Midsumma

Celebrating the LGBTQIA+ communities since 1988, Midsumma Festival is an explosion of events showcasing queer culture, featuring local, interstate, and international artists in spectacular performances, talks and social events.

New for 2023 was A Safe(R) Space, comprising of 21 works, is an artistic exploration of intersectional identity between different facets of queer communities.

The program once again featured the curated Midsumma Presents line-up, plus the community driven open-access stream, across diverse art forms and genres, including visual arts, live music, theatre, spoken word, cabaret, film, parties, sport, social events, and public forums. Every event shared with audiences the lived experiences of those voices at the margins, the expression of queer history, and the celebration of new ideas and stories that come to life through world-class art and performance.
