From 19 – 22 September, Melbourne Central’s Shot Tower Square will be transformed into an idyllic orchard, complete with a vintage Fleming’s orchard tree delivery truck setting the perfect scene for social media selfies, delicious drinks and a chance to grab tickets to the upcoming Blossom Festival at Yarra Valley’s CherryHill Orchards on 26 September – 6 October.
Rachel Caldwell from CherryHill Orchards said: “Spring’s blossom season is such a beautiful time of the year but many Melburnians miss out on this rare annual spectacle. CherryHill is excited to team up with Melbourne Central and Fleming’s Nurseries to bring Melbourne’s first ever Orchard in The City experience. We are delighted to share this magical to showcase a little taste of what’s to come at our stunning orchard Blossom Festival in the Yarra Valley which will be taking place from the following weekend.”
Orchard in the City has been created by Australia’s premier tree grower – Fleming’s Nurseries, who have been instrumental in the development of Australia’s early orchard industry, as well as growing and planting Australia’s finest fruit and ornamental trees for 100 years. Fleming’s placed Australian garden design on the world stage at the famous Chelsea Flower Show in London – winning countless gold and silver awards before taking out ‘Best In Show’ in 2013.
“We are thrilled to be working with CherryHIll and Melbourne Central to bring a slice of the Yarra Valley orchards to the big-smoke with a display in the Shot Tower and the Level 2 Pop up Cherry Bar”, said Paige Fleming from Fleming’s Nurseries. “We love to make a splash with trees and with this being our 100-year anniversary – the timing to work on this great showcase is perfect. Bringing three jam-packed trailer loads of trees to the city, as well as our little old Morris that was used to deliver trees to orchardists back in the 50s and 60s is no mean feat. We cannot wait to see those selfies rampaging across the socials.”
The pop-up will be a taster of what’s to come at the upcoming Blossom Festival where visitors can wander through rows and rows of gorgeous cherry blossoms and enjoy live music and entertainment for the whole family.
