Non-stop fun for kids at Bunjil Place
Not just one but three children’s events will be taking place at Bunjil Place across March and April. From tall treehouses to splashing about in the tub, there is something for all kids, and their adults, to enjoy at the theatre. CDP Kids Production is presenting two theatre shows adapted from beloved children’s books, and the critically acclaimed circus troupe Dummies Corpwill make waves with their new production.
Adapted from the book by best-selling duo Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton, The 91-Storey Treehouse will take to the stage on Wednesday 17 March at 12.30 pm and 6.30 pm. CDP, the team behind the 13-, 26-, 52- and 78- Story Treehouses Live on Stage shows, return to put on a fantastical trip through a wild, weird and incredibly dangerous world with a deserted desert island, a whirlpool and a giant spider! This play by Richard Tulloch is perfect for children aged 6-12.
The Gruffalo’s Child will be on Tuesday 6 April and is another CDP production, in conjunction with Tall Stories. This magical musical is an adaptation of the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, performing at 10.00 am and 12.00 pm (audio described). Following previous sellout Australian tours of The Gruffalo, this sequal brings together physical theatre, music and puppetry to deliver songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3 and up.
The multi-award winning makers of the hit show Trash Test Dummies are swimming back to our shores with their production Splash Test Dummies. On Saturday 17 April at 2.00 pm the Dummies will dive from bathtubs to beaches, displaying an array of catch-your-breath stunt work, acrobatics, juggling and side-splitting, slapstick comedy.
Bunjil Place is an award-winning cultural precinct in the City of Casey that first opened in 2017. The name and striking architectural design of the facility were inspired by stories of Bunjil (also known as ‘Bundjil’) the ‘creator’, from our First Nation’s People. Bringing together an outdoor community plaza, theatre, multipurpose studio, function centre, library, gallery and more – Bunjil Place is a destination for high quality arts and entertainment in Melbourne’s south east.
