New Brew from Bodriggy – Utropia launches 21 November

This sunshine is never going to fade

Collingwood’s Bodriggy Brewing Co. is set to unveil its latest new beer Utropia on 21 November, a flavourful, yet sessional pale ale with a golden, tropical hit.

A clean malt profile leaves space for an abundance of tropical floral hop characters in Utropia. Pineapple, guava and passionfruit flavours lead the show thanks to a generous amount of mosaic and calypso hops. With a dry bitter finish, it’s easy to go back for a second.

Head brewer at Bodriggy, Tristan Barlow said: “Utropia is a beer that shoots down the middle. On one hand its really smashable and a complete guzzler but on the other Utropia is a souped-up tropical hop bomb. We hit it really hard during the whirlpool at a reduced temperature with tons of Mosaic, Calypso and Azacca to get a super juicy mouthfeel. This has helped accentuates the tropical flavours and contributed to a full hearty mouth feel. Since we have hopped the beer quite hard we just gave it a little extra time in tank to make sure there wasn’t any astringency. We are super happy with the way its tracking. Can’t wait for everyone to taste it.”

The name Utropia is a mash-up of utopia and troppo, signifying the ideal beer drinking setting and the tropical flavours of the pale ale, which is further illustrated by the can design, created by Mathis Creative Designs, who have designed a full landscape on the can honouring parks in Melbourne like Edinburgh Gardens.

The Bodriggy team will celebrate the launch of this new beer with a public launch on Thursday 21 November with 100 free tinnies from 4pm and $5 cans after. Wandering Jungle will set up their signature plant sale disco, the DJ will be spinning tunes and head chef Johny Dominguez will be serving up the perfect accompaniments to the new brew. Expect live performances and art installations inspired by the can design.

Bodriggy Brewing Co. is the brainchild of Dr Morse owners Jon Costelloe, Anthony Daniel and Pete Walsh, featuring a huge bar with 64 taps pouring craft beers, wine and cocktails, and a dining area serving up delicious Latin American fare by chef John Dominguez. Guests can expect live music and DJs, offering so much more than a typical brewery.
