Melbourne’s cult burger venue Royal Stacks is teaming up with Lido Cinemas to cater for a special screening of the 80s classic movie, Coming to America, on Wednesday 21 March at Lido on the Roof.
Royal Stacks has always paid homage to everyone’s favourite Prince of Zamunda with one of their burgers named the McDowell, featuring two premium beef patties, double American cheddar cheese, caramelised onion, jalapenos, sliced pickles, American mustard and tomato sauce, on a brioche bun.
Now Eddie Murphy-loving burger fans can take it even further by indulging in the delicious free burger, or the vegetarian alternative, included in their movie ticket price, while watching the movie.
Coming to America celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2018 and this screening is a highlight of the Lido Retro program. For those who need a memory refresh, the classic movies stars Eddie Murphy as the spoilt Prince Akeem of Zamunda who travels to Queens, New York, to go undercover and find a wife he can respect for her intelligence. Upon arriving, Akeem and his loyal servant Semmi (Arsenio Hall) start working at the burger venue McDowells to win the affection of Lisa (Sheri Hadley), which he keeps secret from his father, King Jaffee Joffer (James Earl Jones).
This special screening will take place at Lido on the Roof, Hawthorn’s haven for rooftop movies under the stars. Grab a friend, grab a McDowell burger, and reminisce over the 80s at this ultimate retro night out.
