Melbourne’s favourite Shanghainese restaurant David’s will transform into the perfect summer oasis for the coming warmer months. A few steps from the bustling Chapel Street precinct and tucked away down Cecil Street, David’s is the perfect destination for after-work drinks and refreshing nibbles.
Guests can enjoy a bottomless drinks package between 6pm–7pm on Thursdays and Fridays, sipping their way through David’s new frozen iced tea and menu of cool-down snacks.
A fresh take on the hugely popular frosé (frozen rosé) which took the world by storm in recent years, the David’s frozen iced tea (pictured) is a unique blend that includes lychee, aloe vera, lime and gin that pairs perfectly with dishes from the David’s summer menu. For other drink options, those who are less inclined toward cocktails have the choice of bottomless house wine or Asahi beer.
Menu options on offer include David’s signature ‘drunken oysters’ (pictured) which have a mouth-watering layer of drunken jelly made from Chinese rice wine atop and sprinkled with goji berries, salt and pepper calamari fried in a light herb batter or delectably spicy chilli chicken wings.
Made with local and seasonal ingredients, David’s signature style creates a melting pot of street food flavours, tastes and the cultural diversity of Nanjing Road where David Zhou grew up.
David’s is entering its third decade and keeping things fresh by offering Melburnians another way to experience simply delicious Shanghainese comfort food and stylish drinks in a modern tranquil setting.

David’s is a contemporary Shanghainese restaurant inspired by Zhou’s hometown Zhouzhuang, a water village in which his family’s recipes originated.
