Fried chicken lovers are in for a special treat when popular burger joint Grand Trailer Park Taverna launch a one day only fried chicken menu on Monday 9 December to tease the public before launching the menu officially next year, along with a venue revamp by award-winning Studio Y.
The fried chicken menu will be available in store from 11am – 3pm on Monday 9 December as well as via Deliveroo from 5pm – 9pm and will feature recipes from owner Dani Zeini’s Strange Bird brand that has been in the works for a number of years.
Expect a buttermilk, super crispy coating on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The recipe is a twist on the cult Popeye’s Chicken in the US and the menu will feature specials including:
$5 Chicken sandwich
$10 Chicken plate: two pieces of chicken, gravy, mash and coleslaw
$4 pots and $8 pints of Furphy
$1 Coca Cola
Diners have the chance to snap up the new menu for one day only at bargain prices and fried chicken is the only thing on the menu, something that Grand Trailer Park Taverna has never done before.
The fried chicken menu will then launch permanently in April 2020, along with a significant refurbishment of the venue, designed by Studio Y who have worked on the likes of Mjolner, Stomping Ground Brewing Co., Royal Stacks and more. The refurbishment will see the classic trailer park theme get a Palm Springs / Miami twist but also reminiscent of Australiana motels to keep with its retro theme.
Grand Trailer Park Taverna launched in 2014 on Bourke Street and has fast become an iconic hotspot shaking up the Melbourne burger scene. The venue only uses fresh, local ingredients free from any chemicals or hormones.
