After years of customers pocketing bottles of BBQ and hot sauce off tables, Melbourne barbecue experts Fancy Hank’s have finally launched a cracking BBQ and hot sauce range that are available online and at select stores around Melbourne.
The range includes two BBQ flavours and three hot sauce flavours. The BBQ flavours include Original BBQ, Fancy Hank’s signature sauce that is best matched with pulled pork. The Coffee & Molasses BBQ sauce is another in-house recipe that is served at Fancy Hank’s with their beef brisket – loved for its strong and rich flavour.
The hot sauce range includes Cayenne & Watermelon – a fruity, fresh and mild sauce that is the perfect jumping off point for those new to spice, start with a splash on a freshly shucked oyster. The Jalapeno & Peach is a sweet and tangy sauce that packs medium-heat, and the Habanero & Carrot is sure to fire up your dish to the next level. The team suggests using it sparingly in a stew or adding a splash to a chicken marinade.
Packaged like some of last night’s moonshine, the sauces are made in small batches to retain flavour and freshness with all Australian ingredients.
Fancy Hank’s executive chef Mike Patrick said: “We have talked about developing a proper range of sauces for a while after always getting great feedback from customers about our sauces being made in-house. I’m super excited to showcase high-quality American style sauces made with Australian ingredients, this is really what Fancy Hank’s is about”.
Patrick entered the sauce range into the Australian Food Awards earlier this winter and was thrilled to find out that each sauce in the range was awarded a medal including a gold medal for the Fancy Hank’s Original BBQ sauce.
All sauces are now available to purchase in the restaurant and online via fancyhanks.com/shop. The sauces are also stocked at Spring Street Grocer, Meatsmith (Fitzroy, St Kilda) and three McCoppins Food Stores around Melbourne.
