Oriental Teahouse is joining forces with Fancy Hank’s Barbecue Restaurant for a smoky cook-up that will reimagine American BBQ meets authentic Chinese eats in a five-course dinner on Wednesday 23 October.
Tickets are only $65 each and the dinner will be hosted at Oriental Teahouse in South Yarra. Expect a modern fusion of flavours that pits together one of Melbourne’s finest barbecue joints with the masters of hand-made dumplings.
From smoked pork xiao long bao to a 14-hour smoked brisket steamed bun (pictured below), refined techniques and quality produce from both specialty venues create an epic collaboration like no other.
For an additional $20, guests can match each course to the perfect cold brew and enjoy free-flowing ale available on the night.
The five-course dinner will feature:
Xiao long bao with pork broth, pulled pork and apple black vinegar
Char siu smoked and fried pork ribs with spring onion and peanuts
14-hour smoked brisket buns with homemade BBQ sauce and pickles with hot sauce
Golden tempura, smoked eggplant with spring onions and wonton crisps
Boudin sausage and pork fried dumplings with Fancy Hank’s peach and Jalapeno sauce
Live music will kick-off later on in the night, so guests can extend their evening with a drink at Oriental Teahouse’s resident drinking den, Zhou Zhou, from 8pm onwards.
Fancy Hank’s specialise in slow-cooked American BBQ, cooked in an in-house two-tonne custom-built smoker. Famous for their house-made delicious sauces from award-winning chefs.
