Boroondara Arts Community Exhibitions Program Released

Boroondara Arts’ Town Hall Gallery Community Exhibitions Program allows local and emerging artists to exhibit their work for free in a professional exhibition space. Select work by local artists will be showcased for four – six weeks in the Town Hall Gallery, with up to 12 exhibitions shown per year. 

Over the last decade, the Community Exhibitions Program has showcased almost 2,000 artworks by over 450 artists. By supporting these local creatives, the program has helped to facilitate over $85,000 of art sales back to the artists of Boroondara and thanks to the generosity of these artists, the program has facilitated donations of over $5,000 to local charities and organisations.

Nature in Art’  by Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre

6 July – 14 August

Experience the stunning detail of this series of paintings devoted to realistic botanical illustration by students of the Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre’s ‘Nature In Art’ classes. Showcasing the artists’ talent for accurately depicting the natural world, this exhibition showcases varying flora and fauna in their vivid glory.

‘50 Years as a Sculptor’ by Michael Meszaros

Celebrating local sculptor Michael Meszaros’ 50-year career as a full-time, self-supporting artist, this exhibition features a collection of commissioned specialty medals created for prizes, awards, centenaries and unveilings as well as more personal works and portraits created throughout Meszaros’ well-earned career.

Bringing together four local artists, this exhibition reflects on the unique, collective experience of living through the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this new lens, the artists re-examine themes of home and family, consumption and possession, the natural works and social connection. The exhibition features paintings and photographs that reflect the preoccupations of each artist during this unprecedented time.

Town Hall Gallery features a diverse range of contemporary public programs, curated exhibitions and exhibitions drawn from the Town Hall Gallery Collection, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the City of Boroondara.
