An exciting line-up of entertainment at Bunjil Place

Bunjil Place hosts a vibrant program of events this May and June, covering everything from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to hits with The Sapphires and an urban-freestyle performance with Jump First, Ask Later.

For those after something fun, energetic and engaging, HIT Productions’ The Sapphires will take stage on Friday 10 & Saturday 11 May at 8pm. Inspired by the true story of four Yorta Women who sing Motown hits against the backdrop of massive social upheaval, this funny, heart-warming tale reflects on life and the realisation of dreams, and is guaranteed to leave audiences feeling uplifted. For glitz and glam Australia’s six-foot something songstress Prada Clutch & her ‘girls’ will take audiences on a journey from Priscilla Queen of the Desert in the 90’s to the today’s music hits with Prada’s Priscillas: An All-Male Revue on Friday 28 June at 8pm. Jam-packed with dazzling feathers, wigs, head-pieces and colourful costumes this glittering drag spectacular is not to be missed. Tickets Adult $65. Concession $60. Groups of 10+ $58.

Aspiring rappers and hip-hop dancers can show off their skills at Jump In, a freestyle event led by emerging artists on Friday 17 May at from 6pm – 9pm. There’ll be drop-in workshops and open mic opportunities to polish up those rhymes, plus a cypher competition, where the winner will get to lay down tracks in a recording studio. This is a perfect opportunity to develop your art and let your creativity and self-expression flow. FREE.

For a high energy performance Powerhouse Youth Theatre’s Jump First, Ask Later will combine urban freestyle, b-boying, parkour and dance on Friday 31 May at 1pm and 7:30pm. Featuring members of the Dauntless Movement Crew and directed by acclaimed choreographer Byron Perry, this multi award-winning show tells the stories of six young champions of the underground parkour and street style community. Showcasing some seriously impressive strength and skill, this engaging performance will leave kids wide-eyed and begging for more! Tickets $16.

For the perfect family outing Windmill Theatre Company will present the age-old classic, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast showing from Saturday 8 to Sunday 23 June. This unlikely love story of the beautiful Belle and the grizzly beast is as enchanting as it is entertaining, with all of its beloved, quirky characters like Mrs Potts, Chip and Cogsworth. For a magical world of play Me & My Shadow will share the fanciful escapades of a girl making friends with her shadow on Tuesday 25 June at 10am and 1pm. This Patch Theatre Company production will wow kids with clever uses of paper, light, shadow, colour, water and music, highlighting the ups and downs of friendship. Tickets $16. Suitable for kids in upper kindergarten and lower primary school.
