acreLand is a series of events hosted by acre farm & eatery, the new sustainable rooftop farm, restaurant and café located in the new Burwood Brickworks centre. Kicking off on Saturday 1 February, 10am – 3pm and continuing every first Saturday of the month, acreLand will feature guided farm tours, food and beverage booths including lamb gyros marinated in garlic and herbs or fresh cannoli, milkshakes with Gippsland Jersey Milk, live music, children’s face painting, and more.
acre farm & eatery opened in December 2019 and is working toward creating sustainable practices under the Living Building Challenge TM, an organisation which will also have a stand at acreLand to educate consumers. At the first acreLand event, visitors can enjoy live music from What the Funk, a tourof the glasshouse to demonstrate the process of hydroponics, a method of growing plants in a water based, nutrient rich solution. In the morning, visitors are invited to boogie to Alejandro the Mexican Music Man.
Other delicious menu items on the day will include vegetable shawarma on the spit, fresh cannoli filled with a choice of either chocolate or ricotta, fresh bomboloni stuffed with dulce de leche and more. RSPCA will set up a pop-up shelter to sign up for animal adoption or donate to bushfire relief efforts, and gold coin donations can also be made to a CFA box.
acreLand is the first of many upcoming events designed to engage, educate and inspire the community to come together, learn about sustainable practices that can be adapted and implemented at home, while enjoying live entertainment and delicious food and beverages, all made on site.
The glasshouse café and farmhouse restaurant will also be open and operating as normal during the acreLand event so those staying for dinner can enjoy the likes of Fritto misto with tartare and lemon, John Dory with burned butter, caper and lemon, steamed white wine and herbed mussels with crispy saltbush and focaccia, whole charred chicken with a kale garlic salsa and much more, all served up by executive chef Brad Simpson.
acre farm & eatery is part of Burwood Brickworks, developed by Frasers Property with a vision to create the world’s most sustainable retail centre by achieving global accreditation under the Living building Challenge TM.
