South Yarra’s Zhou Zhou is home to one of the most extensive Japanese whisky collections in Melbourne, and it’s no surprise to many that whisky and beer are a match made in heaven as they gear up to host a boilermaker night on Thursday 25 October.
The expertly matched boilermaker event, pairing whisky and beer, will afford guests five tastings of Japanese fine whisky flavour matched with a selection of craft beer.
Guests will receive a whisky highball upon arrival, followed by hot canapes from the back-bar including spring rolls, BBQ pork buns and wontons, ensuring no one goes through the Japanese whisky circuit on an empty stomach.
The evening will feature a curated selection of Japanese whisky, including Suntory, Nikka and Ichiro Akuto. For those who enjoy the chase, guests will get to enjoy matching craft beers from Hitachino Nest of the renowned Kiuchi Brewery in Naka, Japan.
The boilermaker event will be completed by an in-house team of beverage experts providing rich insights into the history of the ‘boilermaker’ throughout the night, discussing what makes Japanese distilleries so uniquely known for creating fine whisky characterised by their crisp and clean flavour profile.
Not just suited to lovers of whisky, the boilermaker night invites anyone interested in learning more about the Japanese drop in the intimate bar space of Zhou Zhou, Oriental Teahouse’s resident drinking den located upstairs. For $75 guests will get to enjoy delicious canapes discovering the immaculate detail found in Japanese whisky in the ultimate pairing of whisky and craft beer.
