Start the day the Lello way with a contemporary Italian breakfast

Located in the heart of the CBD, Lello Pasta Bar serves up a beautifully crafted Mediterranean breakfast menu, complete with locally sourced coffee and pastries.

Breakfast chef Julie Touma (previously of Swing Bridge Café in Lorne) has created a stand out menu, available seven days a week, with the likes of Stracciatella, roast pumpkin, poached egg and pumpkin seed granola with a grilled baguette (pictured right); Coddled Eggs with house smoked ocean trout, kohlrabi remoulade and toasted sourdough, as well as the Three Grain Porridge with raw oats, quinoa, rice flakes, pistachio crumbled pear, blackberries and sesame snap (pictured below left).

Mornings aren’t complete without coffee, which at Lello is supplied by boutique, family-owned roasters Atomica from Fitzroy. Those on the run or wanting a quick option can devour a Gontran Cherrier croissant or Danish, or grab one of Julie’s English Muffins, baked in-house with buffalo ricotta and wellington honeycomb or a Toasted Jaffle with Taleggio cheese and Tuscan Kale.

Lello’s homely atmosphere is the perfect place to catch up with friends, or to enjoy the paper and coffee for some alone time, or a nice change to the boardroom for a meeting with colleagues. The menu doesn’t disappoint those looking for a classic Melbourne breakfast, which still features old favourites such as Vegemite on toast, bacon and egg buns, granola and freshly baked muffins.

Positioned on the vibrant Flinders Lane strip, Lello is Melbourne’s go-to for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. Those wanting a delicious cocktail with breakfast can indulge in the Heart Starter Pear Tree Martini with pear infused vodka, St Germaine Elderflower liquor, lime juice, angostura bitters and cinnamon.

Lello is all about traditional recipes and techniques made in artisan style and served with love. The venue is the evolution of the iconic Yak Italian Kitchen, where head chef and co-owner Leo Gelsomino tells tales of regions of Italy through his traditional menu with a modern twist.
