Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening – Youth, rebellion, sexuality and mortality

Spring Awakening tickets now on sale

Tickets for StageArt’s upcoming Broadway musical Spring Awakening are now on sale.

Following the announcement of an extremely talented cast, the much-anticipated musical production will be showing from 19 May to 4 June at Prahran’s popular performance venue Chapel off Chapel.

The Tony Award-winning musical captures the electrifying journey from adolescence to adulthood, exploring sexuality, rebellion and mortality. The story is set in nineteenth century Germany, where teenagers struggle through the adversity of coming of age in a time when sexual education is purposefully ignored.

Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening is directed by Robbie Carmellotti (The Color Purple, HAIR), who is also an Executive Producer alongside Katherine Armstrong. Caleb Garfinkel (The Color Purple) is Musical Director and renowned contemporary Choreographer Zoee Marsh is making her musical theatre debut.

“I’m ecstatic to be developing Spring Awakening from inside the music. Not only is it full of beautiful songs and challenging themes, but each song contains such deep, intricate layers that I seem to discover something new and exciting during every rehearsal. Plus it’s wholly composed using my favourite guitar chords, so I feel like I’ve been practicing for it since I was 15 – in fact, I’m seeing a lot of my teenage self in this show!” says Caleb.

The original Broadway production won eight Tony Awards in 2007 including Best Musical, Direction, Book Score and Featured Actor.

Tickets range between $49 and $79. Concession prices are available. The duration of the performance is two hours, with a 20-minute interval between Act 1 and Act 2. StageArt recommends arriving fifteen minutes prior to start time. The performance has a strict ‘Lockout Policy’ and latecomers will not be permitted entry.

StageArt advises Spring Awakening contains coarse language, nudity, sex scenes and adult content. Parental guidance is recommended for audience members under 15 years of age.
