Melbourne Fringe Festival 2018: Registrations open soon

Take a risk. Let’s play.

Can you believe it’s that time again?! Artist registrations to participate in Melbourne Fringe Festival 2018 will soon be open – from Monday 9 April to Monday 28 May – with early bird registrations before Monday 4 May receiving a $50 discount.

Artists are invited to register to be part of the most unique, bold and inclusive multi-artform festival in Australia. Melbourne Fringe is proudly open access, which means that anyone can participate – whether you are a Fringe first-timer, a mid-career artist, or someone who has something special to say. Melbourne Fringe is an opportunity for all art forms to take a risk and push the envelope from circus to visual art, performance to dance; Fringe even has a category for words and ideas. As always, Melbourne Fringe is a safe space for anyone and everyone to get involved, experiment, and discover.

“The 2018 Melbourne Fringe Festival is set to be more
exciting than ever, with some new initiatives, a bunch of bold ideas and creativity literally dripping from Melbourne’s most exciting artists. I can’t wait to see what new ideas they bring to us this year”. Simon Abrahams, Creative Director & CEO.

There are three ways to take part in Melbourne Fringe:

  • Be part of the Fringe Hub by applying to present at one of the Fringe run venues in North Melbourne. Expressions of Interest for the Fringe Hub close 23 April.
  • Be part of an established venue by applying to join a specific program at one of Fringe’s partner venues across the city, each with a different focus. Each venue has its own EOI forms and due dates – visit the Melbourne Fringe website for details.
  • DIY Show, BYO venue and present work in another venue entirely and allow yourself to fulfil your creative capabilities.

Local, national and international artists are invited to apply via the Melbourne Fringe registration portal at

https://www.melbournefringe.com.au/.

This year’s festival has an optional provocation exploring the games we play, where artists can consider the role of play in our culture and how they can break the rules. Alternatively, any idea or event with any theme or content is accepted into the open access Festival.
