Two of Melbourne’s tastiest Asian barbecue specialists, Heroes and Kong BBQ, are joining forces in the kitchen for a night of rooftop barbecue, booze and all-night karaoke.
Taking place at the three-level Bourke Street party house Heroes, Kong BBQ chefs Benjamin Cooper and Mat Brazier will join forces with Heroes head chef Alicia Cheong and Fancy Hank’s executive chef Mike Patrick to create two Korean-inspired barbecue platters showcasing the best of Heroes’ meats cooked over fire along with signature Kong BBQ flavours.
For $50pp, guests will be served a barbecue tray on the rooftop, either meat or vegan, along with a selection of drinks and access to free karaoke all night in the basement of Heroes.
The Kong x Heroes Meat Tray includes Bulgogi BBQ chicken wings, smoked pork shoulder, crispy pork belly, Japanese slaw, kimchi, walnut ssamjang, cos lettuce and fried mantou buns.
The Kong x Heroes Vegan Tray includes Korean fried cauliflower, ember roasted butternut pumpkin with miso dressing, Japanese slaw, kimchi, cucumber salad, cos lettuce and fried mantou buns.
Bookings are now open via heroes.com.au. Reservations will be open from 6pm until 8.30pm and walk-ins are also welcome. For those who don’t want to book ahead but would still like to join the party, there will be a variety of smaller dishes available on the night as well.
Heroes is a three-level Singaporean-inspired rooftop and karaoke bar that opened in July this year. The new venue is brought to you by the team from Fancy Hank’s and Good Heavens with all the food being cooked over fire inside a ferociously decorated setting full of hanging lanterns and dragons.
Kong BBQ puts the fun into the rich and delicious heritage of Korean and Japanese cuisine. Using the ancient practice of BBQ, Kong has a natural charcoal BBQ pit where ribs, wings, meats and vegetables are all cooked. The Kong flavours are punchy Korean and Japanese flavours.
