With only three weeks until the Coburg Night Market throws open its gates on Friday November 24, the food trucks and drink-slingers are getting their offerings ready for festive revellers.
The perfect place to avoid cooking and grabbing an al fresco meal and bevvy on the grass, the market poses a difficult decision with its swag of food trucks to choose from.
Paper Plains is bringing its healthy rice paper roll offerings which cater to both the sweet and savoury tooth. Launched in January this year by two young sisters, this mobile business helps support the socially conscious projects of young entrepreneurs, such as Taboo Sanitary Products – providing sustainable sanitary care for women in need around the world.
Another not-for-profit food truck, Crepes for Change, will serve up delicious artisan French crepes with all profits going towards youth homelessness in Australia.
There will also be award-winning gluten free gnocchi by Ardor Food Co; Caribbean from favourites The Real Jerk; American style BBQ from The Gypsy’s Lunchbox; burgers from Royal Stacks; fresh wood-fired pizza from The Forge; artisan pies from Gourmet Pies – hailed in Melbourne’s 10 Best Pies by the Herald Sun; and, of course, steaming fresh paella and handcrafted Running Bull Sangria from Spanish Gourmet Caterers.
Following the recent boom in Australian gin producers, the brand-new Kilderkin will be a welcome addition to the Coburg Night Market stalls. Launched in May this year, the small-batch gin is distilled in Ballarat by Scott Wilson-Brown – the man behind Red Duck Brewery – and Chris Pratt, a psychologist by trade. Kilderkin offers The Scoundrel – a London dry style with juniper, coriander, cinnamon, coriander and both green and brown cardamom – and The Larrikin – made with Australian botanicals: three myrtles, pepper berry leaf, roast pepper seed, fresh lily pilly and river mint.
For drinks on site there will be the usual fully stocked bar, with beers provided by the award-winning Thunder Road Brewing.
Proudly presented by Moreland City Council.
