Christy Tania’s Glacé to open in Windsor on Thursday 24 August

Internationally acclaimed pastry and dessert chef Christy Tania will open her first permanent venue, Glacé, in Windsor on Thursday 24 August. This stylish flagship store arrives in Melbourne off the back of a wildly successful pop-up in Melbourne earlier this year.

The new space will be a haven for sweet tooths. The chef’s much talked-about artisanal ice creams and sorbets will be available to enjoy immediately in a waffle cone or cup, or to savour at home with 500mL takeaway tubs.

Glacé’s mouth-watering menu includes ice-cream flavours such as:

• Boozy Date (sticky date pudding soaked in rum with vanilla ice cream and salted butterscotch)

• Ginger Spice (vanilla ice cream with salted butterscotch and gingerbread crumble)

• Coffee Caramel (caramel milk chocolate ice cream with Kahlua and orange cinnamon crumble).

In addition, the menu features more traditional flavours such as 72% dark chocolate ice cream, strawberry passionfruit sorbet and coconut sorbet with coconut jam alongside other enticing mixtures such as Ispahan (lychee rosewater sorbet with raspberry sorbet) and Matcha Adzuki (green tea ice cream with sweet red bean paste).

Also on the menu is a range of exquisite artisanal frozen desserts including ice cream eclairs, ice cream macarons and Christy’s famous ice cream push pops, which combine cake sponge and layered ice cream. Proud Mary coffee will also be available.

Christy, one of the most respected pastry experts in the industry, has been making waves since her first appearance on MasterChef Australia in 2014 as the youngest pastry chef judge on the show. She has appeared every year since – most recently in May 2017, challenging contestants to recreate her famed ‘Ice Cream Float’ dessert.

Christy was the inaugural Head Chef of the Adelphi Hotel’s Om Nom – Australia’s only dessert-themed fivestar boutique hotel venue. Om Nom received its first Hat within a record two months of opening with Christy at the helm. In 2016, she moved on to the Langham Hotel as Executive Pastry Chef, before taking the leap to launch her solo venture Glacé.

Christy’s CV also includes stints at Vue de Monde, Jacques Reymond and Sake in Melbourne, as well as the renowned Ritz Hotel Paris and Guy Savoy Singapore.

Glacé will be established in the Melbourne food scene as the place to go to enjoy exciting and delicious ice creams and desserts, educating the public about Christy’s unique approach to ice cream.
